High School at CSB
At CSB, High School encompasses grades 10, 11 and 12.
In Grade 10, all students take a standardized schedule that provides them with critical and essential skills and prepares them for all career pathway success and choices that they then individually select in grades 11 and 12.
In Grades 11 and 12, students have the opportunity to pursue pathways that align with their interests, strengths, and future aspirations. CSB currently offers three major pathways: Sciences, Business and Commerce, and General Academics.
Sciences
Designed for students interested in pursuing fields such as medicine, healthcare, engineering, information and communication technology (ICT), and other STEM-related disciplines. Through carefully selected courses, students develop the foundational knowledge and skills required for competitive university programs in these areas.
Business and Commerce
Provides students with courses that encompass business principles, entrepreneurship, economics, accounting, and related disciplines that prepare them for future studies and careers in the business world.
General Academics
Offers students greater flexibility in course selection, allowing them to explore a broader range of electives while still ensuring they meet university entrance requirements. This pathway is particularly beneficial for students who are still exploring their interests or who wish to maintain multiple post-secondary options. It allows students to strategically select courses that provide the prerequisites necessary for a variety of university programs while fostering a well-rounded educational experience.
This flexibility is particularly important given the rapid changes taking place in today's global economy. Technological advancements, artificial intelligence, automation, and globalization are continuously reshaping industries and creating new career pathways. Many of the jobs our students will pursue in the future may look very different from those that exist today. Therefore, educational systems must focus on developing adaptable learners who can navigate uncertainty and embrace lifelong learning. The B.C. Program and Pathways option allow students to both have all the necessary prerequisites for university acceptances to the programs of their choice, and have an individualized approach towards choices that ensure they are pursuing passions, content, and skills that will benefit them as lifelong learners.
At CSB, we also ensure students are receiving a holistic education ensuring we are providing mandatory courses that enhance and align with 21st century skills, digital and tech literacy, as well as student-centered learning practices.
